Blyth Town lift Challenge Cup

Bay Plastics Challenge Cup Final

Blyth Town 3 Carlisle City 1

David Robinson's late breakaway goal secured Blyth Town their first silverware of the season.

The South Newsham side led at the break as the unlucky Dan Greenslade deflected a low driven cross into his own net in the 35th minute.

Gary Day increased Town's advantage just before the hour with a fine individual goal.

But City hit back in the 86th minute as Dan Balmer gave them hope with an absolute screamer that he curled in from outside the box.

With the Cumbrians pouring forward in search of a leveller, Town's keeper pulled off a tremendous save and when the ball broke, Robinson raced away to hit the back of the net at the other end.
